Wall Street is a street in lower Manhattan, New York City, which runs east from Broadway to South Street on the East River. It has been the first permanent home of the New York Stock Exchange. In course of time the whole of the surrounding neighborhood came to be known as Wall Street. Nowadays, the name Wall Street also refers to ‘influential financial interests’ I the United States and also to the financial industry in the New York City area. Several exchanges like the NYSE, NASDAQ, AMEX, NYMEX, and NYBOT are headquartered on Wall Street. The Wall street Journal, the influential international daily business newspaper, had the widest circulation of any US newspaper until USA Today acquired that position.
